Onward and northward

Well, here I am in Casper, WY.  I am actually really liking how the move has turned out, but at the moment all I can think about is the explosions at the Boston marathon!  This violence is hitting me pretty hard, and I feel a bit guilty that something running related and in lil' bro's adopted hometown makes me all weepy and spurred me to sign up to donate blood... compared to an article I read that a US bomb kill multiple people at a wedding ceremony in Afghanistan.  Not that either isn't a horrifying tragedy, just the visceral response is different.

Anyway...  you know the good ol' stones saying 'you can't always get what you want.... but if you try sometimes you might just get what you nee-eed..' Well the whole transfer to Casper was definitely not my first choice, but is the change I desperately needed.  I'm already living a life much closer to the one I imagine for myself.  I have a pool to swim in, a mountain to bike up from my front door, some challenges to tackle at work, a backyard to garden, and a funny Minnesotan roommate to fill the freezer with venison and the linen closet with potatoes.  I mean really.. what more to ask for?  Maybe my standards have lowered since Fort Morgan, but either way I'm happy and hopeful.
